2015 RRF Calendars are available for pre-order. The calendars sell out every year. Don't wait too long to order yours.
Romney Ridge Farm is home to a small diverse flock of sheep and Angora Goats. We chose Romney and Border Leicester sheep for their hardiness, wonderful personalities, and beautiful long wool.
Our Southdowns and Corriedales provide us with a soft, fine "springy" wool which we combine with Angora and locally grown alpaca, and our Angora Goats grow beautiful, silky-soft Mohair locks which we blend with our Romney and Border Leicester fleeces.
Romney Ridge Farm Yarns are listed under Signature Yarns and change in color and design from year to year -making them uniquely yours.
Romney Ridge Farm Signature Yarns are grown right here our farm by our own sheep and Angora goats, and are spun in New England.
Our Maine yarns are created from fibers selectively purchased from several, fellow Maine fiber farms. We are proud to support local farmers by purchasing their wool.
We purchase only clean, healthy fleeces -meaning we have developed a relationship with the farmers and know that they take good care of their animals nutritionally and humanely.
Romney Ridge Farm purchases this wool, divides it by breed, and combines it by percentages of fleece-type into a wonderful light-weight woolen-spun yarn available in several weights.
This fiber is washed at RITEWAY Scouring in Waldoboro, Maine and spun at and historic New England Spinning Mill.
All of our yarns are hand-dyed using Cushing Dyes created in Maine.
