Upgrading to a multi-needle embroidery machine has a lot of benefits, as I covered in my single needle vs multi needle article. However, it’s definitely an investment! Worst of all, a lot of vendors annoyingly don’t post their prices! So, here’s what you can expect to pay for different machines and a few recommended machines for you to ponder.
Multi needle embroidery machine price comparison
4 needle embroidery machine price – $5,500 to $6,000
4 needle embroidery machines are typically among the cheapest multi needle embroidery machines. You’ll likely be able to find these machines in the $5,000 to $6000 price range.
EDIT: Thanks to a recent price drop, the ELNA 940 is now just under $4,000! This machine is now the best deal in multi-needle embroidery.
Below you’ll find a couple quality machines in this range.
Janome MB4 – $5,499
Elna 940 – $5,499 $3,999
6 needle embroidery machine prices – $10,000 to 12,000
6 needles are the next upgrade, and while you’ll pay a bit more for these – it won’t be much more in many cases and the added colors will make your job easier. 6 needles are still quite affordable in the $10,000 to $12,000 range.
Baby Lock Array – $11,999
7/8 needle embroidery machine prices – $6,800 to $10,000
It’s a bit more rare to find machines with 7 or 8 needles. Why? Who knows. It just doesn’t seem to be as popular. However, this category has a couple of exceptional and budget-friendly machines you should know about for sure. These can be had for $6,800 to $10,000 – a decent savings over many 6 needle machines.
Janome MB 7 – $6,799
Tajima Sai – $9,999
10 needle embroidery machine prices – $15,000 to $20,000
10 needles offer an upgrade over 6 needles, but these machines seem to be priced weirdly. Honestly, I find them over priced compared to 12 and even 15 needle models! Expect to pay $15,000 to $20,000 for a 10 needle like the Brother 1055x or the Baby Lock Venture.
12 needle embroidery machine prices – $10,000 to $12,000
If you need a machine with more needles, there is an exceptional deal in the 12 needle range. SWF is a great brand and the SWF MAS 12 needle can be had for a touch under $10,000. However, if you’d prefer another brand, you can expect to pay upwards of $12,000 for a brand like Happy.
SWF MAS 12 – $9,999
15+ needle embroidery machine prices
Need a machine with a lot more colors? There are actually some decent deals in the 15+ needle category. You can expect to pay $14,000 to $15,000+ for a machine in this range. Below you’ll find some excellent multi-needle machines for small business purposes.
SWF MAS 15 – $14,999
Bernina E16 PLUS – $13,995
In closing, it’s easy to spend a small fortune on a multi-needle embroidery machine. However, there are some cheaper options out there. If you’re on a tight budget, waiting for a used machine to become available is definitely an option.
This could save you hundreds, or even thousands of dollars. However, people are not quick to let go of these valuable machines and you may need to be very patient to score a deal.
